Making one of these sounds like a really fun beginner project.
Schnell Style (but in Python)
If you have made a text adventure in your mind that you really like, and you’re tired of dictating it and would rather make it in a computer language, this page is for you! I’m teaching you a shortcut to make a text adventure, for those who actually know Python.
Programmed in Python.
Since we’re learning about orbital motion in physics, I decided to write a small program with orbital motion.
Fourth Programming Assignment
Here is a link to my program in my fourth programming assignment: http://pastebin.com/ZeDEJJRV
I guess the only difficult part of this was the part which finds the sum of two distinct elements in a list. That was much more of a pain than getting the prime numbers.
The prime numbers program is pretty slow. For n-values above 22,000, the program will take over 10 seconds to calculate the primes. I could use a more efficient method, but that would not be following the instructions I was given on the assignment.
While the programming assignments force me to do things I wouldn’t normally do, I don’t find them to be fun. Which is why during class, I work on my own programs. Currently, my goal is to create my own dungeon crawler by the end of my Python class.
Current ideas include: Tile system, weapon system, a gui that displays health and magic, and basic enemies. As for implementing those ideas, I am still working on learning Lua + LOVE before I can actually do any of it.
Yesterday I dreamed something that made me laugh so much I woke up laughing.
Today I dreamed something that made me so sad in my dream I woke up crying.
My winter break is over soon and the Spring Semester will begin! I’m actually excited for the semester to begin, although some of my friends don’t want school to begin again…
My classes this semester are:
- CSCI 150 - Introduction to OOP : MTWF @ 9:00AM - 9:50AM
- ECE 102 - Introduction to ECE 2 : TH @ 9:00AM - 10:50AM
- PHYS 161 - Engineering Physics 1 : MWF @ 12:00PM - 12:50PM
- PHYS 162 - Engineering Physics Lab : TH @ 11:30AM - 1:50PM
- MATH 143 - Calculus 2 : MTWF @ 2:10PM - 3:00PM
- MATH 135 - Discrete Mathematics : MWF @ 3:10PM - 4:00PM
I’m most excited for CSCI150 and MATH135. CSCI150 will use Python, oddly enough, and I’ve been using learning as much as I can this break. However, I feel like I was not very productive… Actually, I’m pretty excited about all my classes. I enjoy school and learning. When I have some goals with an objective measuring system (grades), I want to exceed them. Sooo, when I’m at home on break with no objectives besides my personal ones, I tend to slack off and not learn.
MATH135 will help out with my programming class, I think. Elizabeth tells me it’s very difficult and that she had trouble with it, so that scares me slightly.
I lied. I’m most excited for PHYS161-162 because it will be with Jackie. She’s really nervous about the class and actually made me take it at the same time as her, which I don’t mine at all. I’m pretty confident that I will get an A. Plus, I had a huge block for the class. It was available any time between 11 and 1, and I could not choose so she chose for me. She’s mostly the reason I’m excited for the semester to begin. And to be away from home. SHE MAKES ME WEAK.
